Stingray Medal Haul continues in Jamaica

More medals in Jamaica during the Saturday morning session of the Christmas Openl! The kids jumped off quick this morning, hitting PB's left and right again. 23 PB's out of 25 swims. Especially impressive considering a number of the kids were beating their short course times from 4 weeks ago. Lots of happy swimmers!

Highlights:

Seven more medals in the second session... 2 golds, 3 silver, 2 bronze

Ella Plunkett placed 2nd overall in the 200 Back in a time of 2:54.9... lowering her already CARIFTA qualified time.

Catriona struck gold again in the 200 Back, posting a 2:35.6, dropping more than 4 seconds in the event.

Alex McCallum and Cole Morgan moved up from 2nd and 3rd the night before to take Gold and Silver, respectively, in the 200 backstroke. Alex dropped over two seconds to go 2:16.8 while Cole dropped 19 seconds off his last LC outing, swimming a time of 2:21.4... BOTH times broke the meet record and both were AAA standard. Unfortunately for Cole, he'll have to wait a year to see if he can beat Alex's new record in the event.

Stefanie Boothe placed 3rd in the 100 breaststroke, dropping 2 seconds to go 1:30.1. Stef not only beat her current short course time, but also qualified for CARIFTA games in the event. Sarah Jackson placed 4th in the event and also reached a CARIFTA qualifying time of 1:31.50.

Sam Bailey clocked her first AAA time ever, going 1:07.1 in the 100 freestyle and placing 3rd overall.

Not to be outdone, Alex McCallum came back and swam to another silver medal in the 100 freestyle. Alex dropped more than 2 seconds again with a time of 56.3.

More to come... Stay tuned!
