2023 CIASA 5k Nationals

Stingray Head Coach

This morning 7 Stingray Swimmers competed in the 5K swim. Conditions were pretty good for swimming yet again, if you look past the jellyfish. The event is basically Cayman Islands qualifing competition for representation in international swims(along with the Piratesweek 5K).

The agegroups internationally are set by end of the year age, and CIASA have decided to do the same. So all kids born in the same year compete against eachother. But the age catagories for CARIFTA are different than CIASA's nationals, with 14-15, and 16-18 being their age-groups for Open Water. So results below can be a bit decieving.

Riley and Josh won their agegroups, and have made a strongest bid to represent Cayman in the coming months. Since Riley won both the pirates and Nationals, there is an open spot in her age-group. Felicty Westin made a very strong bid to join her on the starting position at this years Carifta.(Kassandra Adapa got second at Pirates 5K and Felicity third). Jack Clark-Terrell likewise made a very strong bid for selection just 3 seconds behind Josh Rose. Team selection annoncements will come after Pool Nationals on the 23rd of Febuary.
