SSC Summer Camp 08
SSC’s Summer Swim Camp 2008 with guest Coach Chris Kemp turned out to be a great success. With twenty athletes attending from all over including the Brac it was a blast with four hours of swimming and activities planned everyday.
Starting with a half hour stretching routine and followed by an hour of in pool technique training it certainly was a busy day for all taking part. After snack time the athletes had another training session followed by lunch and some fun and games to end off the day. On day one, the athletes were introduced to Coach Dave of Australia and his swim team. After some inspirational words and a quick session on technique the camp was well underway. On day two the athletes were also introduced to coach Chris Kemp, American record holder from Texas . Coach Chris was great with the kids who all became very fond of him over the four day camp.
On the third day the athletes were taken to the beach for training including some sea swims, and a game called flags (used in surf lifesaving competitions) and on the final day they enjoyed some friendly competition between the red and blue teams. Final score, 83 - 84 in favor of the blue team.
On behalf of the coaches at the Lions Pool, a big thank you to Chris for joining us and a special thanks to Sara Mackay for all her hard work in organizing the camp, snacks and lunches and travel arrangements for the group.
