Stingray Swim Club have joined up with the Flowers Sea Swim to offer an open water swimming master class for Commitment and Discipline swimmers (2pm) and separately for Masters swimmers (3pm).
Lexie Kelly who is working on the Flowers Sea Swim will provide instruction on preparation, warm up, race day tactics etc.
Lexie is 24 years old and comes from Long Beach, California. She swam for 4 years at the Division I & II college level for California State University (specializing in the 200m Fly), Bakersfield and is currently still a US Masters swimmer. She has assisted in the coaching of Dwyer Middle School Swim Club in Huntington Beach, CA. and is employed by Orange County Lifeguards and work at various California beaches in the summer. As part of her work with the Flowers Sea Swim she is assisting in the planned Bridge Swim by renowned marathon open water swimmer Penny Palfrey from Cayman Brac to Grand Cayman. Lexie recently completed the crossing from Cayman Brac to Little Cayman and is currently the world record holder for this crossing.
The cost of the master class will be $5 and SSC will pass on part of that as a donation to the Meals on Wheels charity that is the beneficiary of this years Flowers Sea Swim. There is room for approximately 25 per session so please email Richard Moody (richard.moody@pspb.ky) to reserve a place.
