Mission Complete
With the team now safely back on home soil, a full nights rest under their belts, final results tabulated and their next workout written and waiting, we can now report the following;
- 15 swimmers swam a combined 111 personal best times, with each swimmer contributing a minimum of 4 to that total.
- 4 swimmers added their names to those under consideration for the 2012 Cayman Islands CARIFTA Team by attaining the relevant consideration times. Cole Morgan (100 Backstroke, 1:14.30 "A"), Alice Narborough (50 Free, 31.56 "A"), Jonathan Key (50 Free, 34.02 "BB") and Kyle Fraser (50 Free, 28.79 "A").
- 2 Stingray records fell by the wayside, both to Corey Westerborg, breaking his own 50 free record of 44.02 by a country mile with a 39.30 and slicing an astounding 25 1/2 seconds off the old 200IM records set in 2003 by Alex McCallum, lowering it to 3:52.96
- Stefanie Boothe swam her first "A" time, 1:32.57 in the 100 Breast
- Jayde Solomon compiled an arsenal of 5 "BB" time standards as well as a third place finish in the 200 back.
- Wunyae Crawford impressed in his first overseas competition, competing in events which are new to his repertoire and pusing hard to the finish every time.
- Liam Henry shone in his first efforts in a Long course pool, competing strongly in all six of the events on offer to the 10 and under swimmers.
- Alex Dakers took on the big pool for the first time, tackling tough events sans trepidation and showing his versatility.
- Sarah Jackson put up "BB" times in both the 100 and 200 metre breaststoke events, showing no fear of the Olympic sized pool her first time around.
- Iain Macrae continued his steady climb to the top, dropping time in four of his events and posting four top 8 finishes.
- Ella Plunkett had an astounding 8 personal best times and led off the girls 11-12 bronze medal winning medley relay team with a solid backstroke leg.
- Andrew Smilley, the veteran of the team, added seven personal bests to the team total as well as seven top eight points scoring finishes.
- Lauren Williams, after taking on the daunting 400IM as her first ever long course event, showed no fear in taking on the remainder of her busy schedule with great heart and effort, earning the team points along the way with her top 8 finish in the 400 Free.
The team was coached by Coach Paula Swaby-Ebanks, managed by Team Manager Derrick Westerborg and supported with much gusto by all.
