Olympic Swimmers Conor Dwyer, Liam Tancock, Caitlin McClatchey visit Stingray
The Stingray Swim Club was thrilled to welcome more Olympic swimmers to the Lion's Pool this week and through the weekend as part of a CIASA fundraiser.
Liam Tancock, world record holder in the 50m backstroke, and Caitlin McClatchey, 3-time finalist in the London Olympics flew to the island from Great Britain to meet up with their old coach Ian Armiger for a long weekend of fun, inspiration and fast swimming.
Joining the British swimmers was one of America's rising stars, Conor Dwyer, of Gator Swim Club. Dwyer was NCAA Swimmer of the year in 2012, winning multiple NCAA individual titles. Dwyer went on to London as a member of the American Olympic Team where he captured gold alongside Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte and Ricky Berens in the 4x200 Freestyle Relay.
Stingray swimmers had the opportunity to work in the water with all three Olympians on Thursday and Friday during swim clinics hosted at the Camana Bay Pool and Lion's Pool.
"It's such a great thing to be able to bring these tremendous athletes to the island," said Coach Ian Armiger, "you can literally see the inspiration in the eyes of the kids."
