Records broken and CARIFTA times reached at Sprint Meet Plus
Stingray's first two-day Sprint Meet wrapped up Sunday morning with a solid showing from swimmers in all groups and of all levels. Alison Jackson continued this years roll by capturing two new team records in the 100 free (1:12.5) and the 100 IM (1:23.7), the latter also being a CIASA record. Jackson also came close to CIASA records in all four of her other events.
Ella Plunkett and Sam Bailey added to their CARIFTA program. Both had already scored times in the 100 and 200 backstroke, with Bailey also qualified in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle events. Plunkett set a new personal best in the 200 IM (2:51), qualifying her in her third event, while Bailey qualified herself for the 400 Freestyle (5:07).
But the best performances of the weekend went to Stingray's youngest swimmers!
Marisa Poole, Allyson Belfonte and Sam Dakers, all 7 years old, each swam to personal bests in every single event. Sam dropped almost 10 seconds in his 25 breaststroke (28.28), Allyson dropped 5 seconds in her 50 freestyle (50.82), and Marisa dropped 11 seconds in her best race of the weekend, the 100 IM (2:06.9).
Thank you again to Island Heritage for sponsoring the meet and a huge thank you to all of the parents and volunteers who stepped up to make this event possible for all of the swimmers.
