Courtis & Klein lead Stingray domination at Fosters 800
Stingray swimmers put the hurt on today in the Fosters 800m Sea Swim. The conditions were just right (except for the current) for a season-opening thumping, and the young Stingers delivered...
Matthew Courtis led the race overall, putting space between himself and the field immediately and cruising to victory. Cole Morgan and Andrew Smilley came in 2nd and 3rd, making it a clean sweep on the podium of the mens race.
Katie Klein and Ashley Theaker came racing into the chute in the first pack... The race quickly bottle-necked, with 6 swimmers all converging on the finish line at once. Katie Klein fought through to a first place finish overall for girls, and Ashley held on to nab 2nd. Catriona Macrae came in just a couple body lengths behind the group to finish 4th overall for the girls.
Other top finishers:
Marisa Poole: 2nd place in the 8-Unders division.
Ali Jackson: 1st place in the 11-12 girls division.
Sarah Jackson: 2nd place inthe 11-12 girls division.
Stef Boothe: 3rd place in the 13-14 girls division.
Jonathan Key: 1st place overall in the 13-14 boys division.
Iain McCallum: 3rd place overall in the 15-20 boys division.
Way to go Stingray swimmers. Fantastic day at the beach!
