Good Times Keep Rolling at MLM Swim Meet
The Mike Lockwood Memorial Swim Meet has not had a shortage of dull moments. Impressive performances have come from all age groups with still another day to go.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Alex Dakers swam a most impressive race in the 100m Breaststroke on Friday evening, clocking a time of 1:25.75. This breaks the CIASA short course record set ten years ago by Joel Rombough. This is the first 11-12 Boys record to be beaten in over 5 years.
Sam Bailey followed suit by breaking the 11-12 Girls CIASA records in both the 50m free on Friday night (29.04) and the 100m free on Saturday morning (1:04.30). The 100 freestyle record, previously 1:04.55, had been held by Jody Foster since 2002. Sam's 50 freestyle qualified her for CARIFTA in the 13-14 age group, making her the 5th Stingray to qualify.
Josh McField blazed to a top 6 finish in the 50 freestyle, dropping over 20 seconds at 40.38.
Brandon Williams has dropped heaps of time in every event, most notably a 13 second drop in the 400 freestyle, capturing 3rd overall. Brandon has yet to swim a race this season without setting a PB.
Sarah Harrison dropped 3 seconds in the 50 freestyle from only 3 weeks ago, and more impressively, dropped 10 seconds in her 100 freestyle, stopping the clock at 1:36.99.
Sophie Hayman tore up the pool from the outside lane in the 100 freestyle, also chopping off 10 seconds for a 2nd place finish in the 9-10 girls division. Sophie finished in 1:23.33.
Electra McErlean dropped just over 13 seconds in her 50 backstroke, making it the largest drop of the season for her.
Lauren Williams started her day (and finishes this article) with a monster swim in the 200 IM, dropping 15 seconds off her previous, touching the wall in 2:58.19
Great job again today Stingray Swimmers. Rest well and get ready for one more day of action at the MLM Swim Meet!
