More Records Fall, Boothe Punches CARIFTA Ticket on Day 2
Medals, Records and Qualifying Times.... OH MY!
It was another night of surprises at the CIASA National Championship. After a an average run of swims in the morning heats, Stingrays swimmers stepped up and laid the smack down in finals. Though I haven't personally seen the printout of official results, I am reasonably certain two more Stingray and CIASA records went down tonight. Stefanie Boothe broke her sisters record in the 50 Butterfly while at the same nabbing her first CARIFTA, and Corey Westerborg took down another backstroke record, this time in the 100 (while Iain McCallum, the former record holder looked on), snatching up another gold medal!
Among the most notable of swims was Monina Thompson, who started the day seeded third in the 50 butterfly and came out on top of the podium, winning her first gold medal... and doing so at the national championship!
Once again, the swimmers exceeded my expectations today and I'm so happy with the way everyone is swimming. Let's keep this train rolling as the little ones join us tomorrow for more action at Champs!
1-2-3 FRIENDSHIP!
