Thompson Provides Thriller Finish for SKY, Joins CARIFTA Squad
Third times a charm.... usually.
The fourth time was the charm for Monina Thompson as she flew to her first CARIFTA qualifying time in the 50 Butterfly tonight. It was her last chance, the meet was over, and the lights were getting dim. There was no room for error. In the morning time trial Thompson posted a time that missed the cut by .03 seconds. Less than the blink of an eye. She was not devastated, she was determined. And on her fourth time swimming the 50 butterfly in three days, during the evening time trial after the last event had been swum, she finally went under the qualifying time. Not by a little. By a lot! Over a full half of a second, clocking a 34.48.
It could not have been scripted any better were it a movie made for Disney. It was the storybook ending to a phenomenal swim meet!
A full meet write up will be coming tomorrow!
Congratulations Monina! Congratulations Stingray swimmers. I am over the moon!!!!
