Another Weekend of Success for Stingray
Once again, Stingray swimmers across the globe put in impressive perfrormances over the weekend as the build up to CARIFTA charges on. Here on island, SKY swimmers swept the finale of the CBAC Sea Swim Series winning both the 200 and 800 meter swims.
First off in the 200m Lollipop swim, Allyson Belfonte cruised to a big victory, crossing the finish line in just over 4 minutes. Shortly thereafter, Andrew Smilley and Jonathan Key made quick work of the 800m course, finishing 1st and 2nd respectively. Both crossed the line well clear of competitors in just over 10 minutes.
Across the Atlantic, Geoffrey Butler put in an impressive performance competing Long Course in Sheffield, UK. Butler swam to personal bests in the 1500 free (16:12 ) which lowered his qualifying time for Commonwealth Games, in the 400 IM (4:44) and the 200 Free (1:58). Geoffrey also swam to a new best and a second Commonwealth qualifying time in the 400 freestyle in a time of 4:06.
Congrats to everybody! Alex McCallum, Lara Butler and Matthew Courtis all compete this coming weekend at Scottish Nationals in Glasgow, while Christopher Courtis competes in Canadian Nationals in Victoria, BC. Stay tuned for results of our overseas athletes!
