SKY Dominates CUC Sea Swim, Smilley wins in North Carolina
On a bright Saturday afternoon, Stingray's swimmers young and old punished the competition here in Cayman and on the coast of North Carolina.
Andrew Smilley started the day off right by winning his division and placing second overall in the Mott's Channel Swim, a 1.3 swim held on the shores of North Carolina. Smilley finished the course in just over 23 minutes giving him his best finish in a sea swim so far this year! Smilley is using this as a trial run event for the 2015 World Special Olympic Games in Los Angeles where he will swim the 1 mile event and try to bring home gold.
Back here in Cayman, Stingray cleaned up at the CUC 800m Sea Swim. Stingray swimmers were entered in 8 different age categories and won top finisher in every category! Iain McCallum claimed the top spot overall in the race, avenging his 2nd place finish in the Foster's Food Fair Sea Swim last month.
On the girls side, Ella Plunkett surprised even herself by swimming to the Women's title, followed closely by Catriona MacRae and Samantha Bailey for a 1-2-3 finish on the girls side.
Marisa Poole, Stephanie Royston, Zororo Mutomba, Ella Plunkett, Catriona MacRae, Liam Sinclair, Zach Moore and Iain McCallum all won their respective age divisions.
Congrats to everybody who swam for Stingray! Pirates Week 5k is coming up next!
