After a blistering first night of competition featuring an epic duel in the 1500 and a slew of impressive swims in the 800, Stingray swimmers swung back into battle on Friday and Saturday. With many swimmers fighting fatigue and illness the whole way, Stingray's younger lot provided a spark which kept the team rolling. Having lied relatively dormant for the entire season, watching their 11-12 female counterparts whoop up on the competition, it was the 11-12 boys who stole the show and took their turn in the spotlight. Jonathan "Bobo"...

Not sure how to accurately describe Stingray's first night of competition at the Pete Ribbins Memorial Swim Meet. How about ...... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!! YEAH BABY! First things first though... earlier this morning Chris Courtis competed in the Canadian Interuniversity Championship (collegiate national championship). Christopher swam another personal best in the 50 backstroke (26.54) once again qualifying for the next level of competition, Canadian Nationals, held in April. Nationals is contested in LCM. Stingray was led off by Iain McCallum's silver medal performance in the 200 Butterfly (2:32), a respectable time given the older kids state of training! McCallum prefers short course events and said he is greatly looking forward to coming home to more walls. Andrew Smilley followed close behind to finish 4th. Marisa Poole chopped off nearly 5...

It was a long day at the pool in Jamaica. A very long day... As such, this reporter is very tired. So as much as I'd like to jazz it up for you, here is the cliff notes version of a day that would also take very, very long to write about... But it is worth mentioning that there were TWO meet records broken today by Stingray. Both of them.... BY A PARENT!!!!! Michelle Bailey won the Masters 50 Breaststroke and 50 Butterfly, both in Meet Record times. Meanwhile Sam...

More gold medals and CARIFTA times on day 2 of competition as Stingray's Jamaica crew swam lights out on Friday evening.  Starting the party were Sam Bailey and Ella Plunkett, who placed 1st and 3rd respectively in the first event of the evening, the girls 11-12 200 Back. Sam clocked a 2:42 while Ella came in at 2:51. Both nearly edged out the next competitor, burying them with strong finishes. Cole Morgan made it two straight on the night, and two straight in Jamaica by winning the 200 back in...

After a rough start in the 200 IM's (3 DQ's in 6 races), Stingray swimmers roared to life, keeping their roll of PB's and Gold Medals in Jamaica alive. Stefanie Boothe started the day off by dropping 2 seconds in the 200 IM, giving her another CARIFTA time and placing her fourth overall. Ella Plunkett also dropped five seconds in the event, despite a bad back to breast turn which left her swimming in the wrong lane :D. Cole Morgan also put together an impressive 2IM, nearly being edged out...
