Once again, Stingray swimmers across the globe put in impressive perfrormances over the weekend as the build up to CARIFTA charges on. Here on island, SKY swimmers swept the finale of the CBAC Sea Swim Series winning both the 200 and 800 meter swims. First off in the 200m Lollipop swim, Allyson Belfonte cruised to a big victory, crossing the finish line in just over 4 minutes. Shortly thereafter, Andrew Smilley and Jonathan Key made quick work of the 800m course, finishing 1st and 2nd respectively. Both crossed the line...

Stingray's newest and youngest gathered this morning for the CBAC Shamrock Splash at the Camana Bay Pool. A small team of only 12 swimmers represented Stingray well with first place swims and first-ever swims. Little veterans Allyson Belfonte and Sam Dakers led the pack, both bringing home first place finishes overall. Sam in the 50 Butterfly and Allyson in the 25 Free, 25 Fly and 25 Breaststroke. Jessica Day and Kneau McKenzie also delighted with massive PB's (personal bests). Jessica dropped 7 seconds in both the 100 free and 50...

Stingray brought 23 swimmers to the Walter Rodgers Championship in Kingston, Jamaica. Tornadoes, Y-Speedos and Marlins Swim Club all brought more than 100. Yet it was quality that trumped quantity as Stingray's best came with an onslaught of first place finishes, record breaking performances and high-octane, pull-one-out-of-your-rear-end swims to bring home the trophy for 3rd Place overall. It was the relays where the meet was won and lost, where Tornadoes, Y-Speedo'sand Marlins (first, second and fourth respectively) fielded over 30 teams each during the meet compared to our 5 (relays...

Stingray swimmers like to make accomplishments in two's evidently. Westerborg and Jackson doubled down on backstroke records in back to back weekends. The 15-17 Boys made a come from behind victory in the Medley relay again today, and in the most unlikely of scenarios, Liam Henry duplicated Monina Thompson's short course 50 Butterfly performance with a Long Course performance in the same event. At the last possible moment available in the pool, Liam Henry became the 16th member of Stingray to qualify for CARIFTA in Aruba this April. Wearing Bobo's...

Alison Jackson and Corey Westerborg rewrote the 50 backstroke short course records at the CIASA National Championship, and just over one week later in Jamaica they did it again, this time long course. Corey swam to a 40.35 in the morning session, edging under Brett Frasers record set more than 13 years ago. Alison actually broke the record twice in a row, having been forced to re-swim her race. In the first go-round, there was a false start, but by the time the judges dropped the rope at 15m, Ali...

With an impressive showing in the 1500 and 800 meter events, Stingray's little group that can jumped into first place following the final individual event of this morning's session. But with only a four point lead and relays coming up, it is going to take a massive team effort to come home with a trophy in hand. Stay tuned swim fans!

On the eve of the distance events which Stingray looks to fare well in, the small team of 23 swimmers down from Cayman have catapulted themselves into second place. Catriona MacRae and Simon Butler highlighted a flurry of fast swims which have given SKY a 70 point advantage over third place Marlins Swim Club. Relays, which count for double, start tomorrow morning so Stingray's best are looking to put a little more distance between themselves and Marlins in the first event of the day, the 1500 and 800 Freestyle. Stay...

After the first night of competition, and with a couple of ticky tack DQ's standing in the way, Stingray's group of only 11 swimmers stands in third place overall, only two points behind the Marlins and within striking distance of the first place Tornadoes. Much thanks for this goes to Jonathan Key and Catriona MacRae who blazed to first place finishes in the 400 Freestyle in the opening event, both going under their short course time set only 5 days ago at CIASA Nationals. Both swimmers not only won their...

It was a weekend of surprises for Stingray at the CIASA National Championship from start to finish. The swimmers surprised their coach, they surprised the spectators and they even surprised themselves from time to time. What started out as a good meet snowballed into an incredible meet that was capped off by the most unlikely of endings as  swimmers young and old continually stepped up and surpassed their expecations in both prelims and finals. There were so many highlights, but of all the standout performances, here are a few that...

It only took a 3 second drop in a 50 of freestyle to make a CARIFTA cut for the 11-12 girls, but Ria Plunkett made it look easy. Ria joins Ali Jackson and Miquela Montana in the 11-12 Girls group. Stingray has now qualified 14 swimmers, including 4 first-timers. More action at the pool tonight in the final session of the National Championship!
