In an exciting and action packed final day of competition, Stingray swimmers rose to the occasion one more time at the Jamaica Christmas Open. 24 swims in total today and 23 personal bests. 3 gold medals, 1 silver, 3 bronze... Ashley Theaker and Katie Klein got the action started once again today in the 400 free by placing 2nd and 3rd overall. This time it was a role reversal though as Ashley (5:06.59) broke away and almost tracked down the leader to finish with Silver, with Katie (5:13.0)...

Stingray swimmers opened their account in Jamaica in fine style: 14 swimmers, 12 PBs, medals and a meet record. Samantha Bailey swam a superbly paced race to take the girls 11/12yrs 100m backstroke title in a new meet record of 1:17.4 whilst Catriona Macrae raced to a lifetime best of 1:13.0 to take the 13/14yrs 100m backstoke. Geoffrey Butler blew away the opposition on the opening night of the Plymouth Leander Open Meet. Swimming in the 1500m freestyle, Geoffrey maintained superb pacing to take the 17yrs+ title in a huge lifetime best of 16:30.55; some 16 seconds ahead of his nearest rival. The time, outstanding for his first long course outing of the season, sees him get closer to the 2014 Commonwealth Games Qualifying Time of 16:22.49 Matthew Courtis placed 4th in the same race in 17:40.03 A great start to the meet!!

Stingray swimmers Lara Butler, Geoffrey Butler and Matthew Courtis took to the pool this last weekend and made big waves for their schools in the UK. Matthew opened the meet with a stellar 200 IM, getting him into finals and 6th overall. Courtis finished with a time of 2:12.44. Matthew went on to place 8th in both the 400 Freestyle (4:08.57) and the 200 Butterfly (2:09.32).
